Country Music Festival Erupted Into Tragic Mass Shooting
The deadliest mass shooting in modern United States history occurred last night on October 1, 2017. A country music festival called the "Route 91 Harvest" was taking place across from the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise Nevada. There was up to tens of thousands of people attending the festival and walking around the area. People reported of being lost in mass confusion as the situation escalated very quickly.
Currently, there is approximately 527 known injuries and 59 deaths. Two of the deaths were police officers. The shooter was positioned on the 32nd floor of a building adjacent to the Mandalay Bay resort. He shot himself before police reached him. His name was Stephen Craig Paddock and he was 64 years old. There is currently no publicly known motive for his actions. United States president Donald Trump and Nevada governor Brian Sandoval released some generic statements about the tragedy. There's still much more discussion to come from the Nevada Police Department as they collaborate their investigation with the FBI and ATF.
